Kaylee always knew she wanted to tell stories, but could never decide on how. She grew up working on and offstage, enjoying all aspects of the creative process: from designing story elements behind the scenes to stepping out into the spotlight.
She attended The King’s College in NYC, earning a B.A. in Media, Culture, and the Arts: Theater Concentration. She chose to pursue the liberal arts in undergrad in order to widen her understanding of the world and its history, enabling her with a broader knowledge base to pull from as an artist.
During her time in school, she took part in the MCA department’s mainstage productions as an actress, music assistant, and assistant director. While in school, she partnered with her long time friend, Becky Passner, to create an original new musical adaptation of Lew Wallace’s classic novel, Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Kaylee wrote the music and lyrics and served as an editor for the book. In July of 2019, Passner and Long directed a premiere production of Ben Hur in Raleigh, NC. Since then, they have premiered two more shows, Curtain in Five! (2020) and A Price for Freedom (2021).
Currently, Kaylee is directing the next Passner&Long premiere: Pygmalion, a new musical adaptation of the classic George Bernard Shaw play of the same title. The show is set to open June16, 2022 in Raleigh, NC.
Kaylee continues to pursue her one passion for storytelling in a variety of ways. While auditioning for onstage and onscreen work, she is also a freelance editor and production assistant. And while passionate about directing, she continues to write and compose, with a few new projects in the works.
